I’m definitely not completely set on what I want to do for the midterm project, but I’m definitely very drawn to exploring the WPA Slave Narratives that were discussed in class. The database is pretty intimidating due to the sheer number of narratives, and I am still trying to find one that interests me. I was also interested in the excerpts from the journal of Charlotte Forten Grimké, and I think it would be interesting to explore how an African American woman operated in the North and the arena of abolition-related activism. In terms of general topics I think I am most interested in the transition from slavery to freedom, and the adjustments to family life and relationships that arose from the event.
